Travel & Logistics - ND

We are pleased that you will be participating in Unleashing Your Leadership Potential (UYLP) program at the University of Notre Dame. The program will begin on Tuesday, April 14th and conclude on Friday, April 17th. 

The following should provide you with additional information that will be helpful in making your travel plans:

Schedule Notes:

On Tuesday, April 14th, your UYLP experience will begin with an optional campus walking tour departing from the lobby of the Stayer Center for Executive Education at 11:00 AM. The student guide will end the tour back at the Stayer Center where we will have lunch at 12:00 PM. If you are unable to go on the tour then please join us for lunch at that time. 

At 1:00 PM the first session, Introduction:Transition to Leadership, will begin in Stayer Center room 319 followed by an Opening Dinner from 5:30 PM-6:30 PM at Jenkins/Nanovic Hall. 

Each class day will begin at 8:30 AM in room 319. 

The UYLP classes are full and engaging; you may want to let colleagues know that you will not be easy to reach. Your last UYLP class will end at 12:00 PM on Friday, April 17th, 2020. 

Arrival:

You will be traveling to South Bend, Indiana.

If you are flying into South Bend:

Several major airlines service the South Bend Regional Airport (SBN). Cab service, Lyft or Uber are available from the airport. It is a 10-15 minute drive that averages $15. Rental cars are also available at the airport; however a car will not be necessary as you are staying at The Embassy Suites located across the street from the University campus. Listed below please find several companies you can contact to schedule transportation to the University campus. The fee will be your responsibility.

If you are flying into Chicago:

If you are flying into Chicago, Royal Excursion has a regular schedule of buses from Chicago O'Hare and Chicago Midway that will bring you right to campus. Their website is https://royalexcursion.com/ and the Airport service is called Royal Zoom. 

Meals:

Breakfast is available at the Embassy Suites each day beginning at 6:00 AM. Lunch  and dinner will be provided each day during the program, except for Wednesday night which will be a free night to dine where you wish and explore South Bend. A pre paid Visa card of $25 will be given to each participant to use for dining that evening. Please let us know of any dietary restrictions or allergies that need accommodation on the Information Request Form tab. You will be walking to nearby restaurants for some lunches so it is recommended that you bring a pair of comfortable shoes.

Housing:

The Embassy Suites

The program cost covers housing from check-in on April 14th to check-out on April 17th. Room and tax charges will be paid for; however, all incidental charges (parking,telephone, laundry, etc.) and extra nights will be your personal responsibility. Check-in time for the hotel is 3:00 PM. They allow early arrival based upon availability, but if your room is not ready they will store your luggage until your room is available. Any additional days stay will also be your responsibility. We will make your hotel reservation according to the arrival and departure dates listed on your returned Information Request Form.

Parking:

If you are staying at the Embassy Suites there is a parking garage and you will receive a $6 discounted rate per night with your stay. Please not that parking and incidentals are not included in the program fee.

Weather:

Temperatures are variable at this time of year, please check the forecast on weather and be prepared for varying temperatures and a chance of rain .

Clothing:

Business casual attire is appropriate for all classroom sessions. Due to varying temperature preferences, you may want to bring a sweater or light jacket to wear in the classroom. Comfortable walking shoes may be preferred for the walking campus tour.

Health and fitness:

There is a workout room at the Embassy Suites that has cardio as well as strength training equipment and there is also an indoor pool. On campus there are lakes that people jog around.

Internet Service:

The Notre Dame guest wireless network is open to guests of the university, and does not require a username and password. To access the university network please connect to the following network: ND-guest.
